The Crittenden Regional Hospital Foundation today announced it has approved six grant requests for health care equipment totaling more than $25,000 in purchases.
Over the first half of 2011, the Foundation accepted grant applications from hospital staff and evaluated various requests for updated or new equipment for the hospital’s different service lines. The new grant purchases include:
· The Pocket Fetal Doppler©, a baby heart monitor, was purchased for Crittenden Regional Hospital Home Health for use in re-establishing its perinatal program. This device helps perinatal nurses service high-risk pregnancies in the home environment. The ability to provide this service helps increase referrals and assists the hospital’s OB/GYN physicians in providing quality care.
· ThreeViterion® 100 TeleHealth Monitors were purchased for Crittenden Regional Hospital Home Health to keep track of pertinent information in a patient’s home, such as weight, blood pressure and oxygen saturation. The device is left in the patient’s home, and information is sent to a central repository for review and interpretation.
· The Medline BioCon™ 500 Bladder Scanner was approved for Crittenden Regional Hospital Rehabilitation Services and the surgical floor. The bladder scanner reduces the frequency of catheterizations through a noninvasive assessment of bladder volumes.
· A new television and stand for Crittenden Regional Hospital Rehabilitation Services will help provide increased levels of activity during patient stays. By allowing patients to get up and use a wheelchair to go to the “TV room,” activity levels increase, which accelerates patient recovery.
· A new transitional bedroom suite for Crittenden Regional Hospital Rehabilitation Services will provide a space to transition a patient from a hospital room to a home bedroom, improving the patient’s confidence and ability to return home in a timely manner.
· Crittenden Regional Hospital Patient Access Services will receive 10 new chairs and lamps for the hospital lobby area, enhancing the quality of comfort for patients and their loved ones while visiting the hospital.
“Our mission for the Foundation is to raise funds and awareness for services that benefit the hospital, its staff and patients,” said Chris Chastain, executive director of the Crittenden Regional Hospital Foundation. “We are excited that we have come to a point through generous donations that we can grant this many requests at one time. It is truly a milestone for the Foundation – one that wouldn’t be possible without the contributions of our staff and people from the community.”
